Bobcats sign Jannero Pargo to 10-day contract

The Charlotte Bobcats have signed guard Jannero Pargo to a 10-day contract.

In his ninth NBA season, Pargo has played for the Lakers, Raptors, Bulls, Hornets, Hawks and Wizards.

In 14 games this season with Washington and Atlanta, Pargo is averaging 4.0 points and 2.4 assists per game.

The signing of Pargo brings the Bobcats roster up to 15 players.

Ortiz’s bloop single lifts Maiden past N-C in extras

March 14, 2013

Maiden and Newton-Conover made the most of both team’s conference baseball openers on Wednesday.

A bloop single by Maiden shortstop Randal Ortiz in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Blue Devils to a 6-5 extra-inning victory against the Red Devils.

Foard's Carpenter forgoes senior season, turns pro

The world’s most famous golfer is named Tiger.

However, a local Tiger is joining the pro golf ranks.

Fred T. Foard’s Christian Carpenter decided to forgo his senior season of prep golf to pursue a career on the course.

Carpenter was granted a one-year exemption by the National Golf Association Pro Tour. He will play in the Carolina Series.

Panthers cut LB Anderson, re-sign TE Hartsock

March 12, 2013

The Carolina Panthers were busy during the first day of the NFL's free agency period on Tuesday.

The team released starting linebacker James Anderson and re-signing tight end Ben Hartsock.

Anderson had spent his entire NFL career with the Panthers after being drafted in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft by Carolina.

Blue Devils beat Bears, tune up for N-C showdown

Jon Huffman said his team's play wasn't pretty, but it was enough to get the job done.

The Maiden boys tennis team won four singles matches and two doubles contest to defeat Bunker Hill 6-3 on Monday.
