Johnson ready for year two with Charlotte 49ers

With a full season of college football under his belt, Matt Johnson is ready for his second season with the Charlotte 49ers.

The former Maiden standout enters his redshirt sophomore season with the Niners much stronger and wiser.

Weight training with 50 teammates during the summer, Johnson’s bench press improved 30 pounds this offseason.

Panthers RB Barner traded to Eagles for draft pick

Kenjon Barner is joining his former college coach, Chip Kelly, as part of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The long journey in the career of kicker Ryan Succop came full circle on Sunday.

The former Hickory High and University of South Carolina standout played for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Carolina Panthers in preseason NFL action at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Stewart’s return sparks Panthers past Chiefs

Jonathan Stewart returned with a bang on Sunday.

The seventh year running back scored two touchdowns, leading the Carolina Panthers to a 26-14 win against the Kansas City Chiefs at Bank of America Stadium.

Hornets announce bid for '17, '18 All-Star Games

August 12, 2014

The Charlotte Hornets formally announced their bid for the 2017 or 2018 NBA All-Star Games during a press conference Tuesday.

The city of Charlotte last hosted an NBA All-Star Game in 1991 at the old Charlotte Coliseum. The East defeated the West in that contest, 116-114, before a sold-out crowd of 23,530 fans.
