An area softball legend died last week at the age of 69.
David âStanâ Harvey, a member of the famous Howardâs Furniture softball teams in the 1970s and 1980s, died at his home in Gaston County.
Harvey started playing softball at the age of 14 in his native Tennessee.
At the age of 21, Harvey joined Richard Howardâs Furniture softball team.
Playing a mixture of outfield and first base, Harvey became a part of teams that won five national softball crowns, including 1973, 1974, 1981, 1983 and 1984.
