Indians’ Kerigan Farley motivated by the past

Three years ago, Kerigan Farley was cut from the St. Stephens boys basketball program.

Twelve games into this season, he is on the Indians’ roster as its leading scorer.

The 5-foot-10 point guard has came a long way since he was told he would not be a member of the Indians hoops program in the fall of 2009.

Amidst a sea of fans wearing red and blue at Time Warner Cable Arena on Wednesday, the Duke men's basketball team overcame a tidal wave first half against Davidson with a second half typhoon.

The top-ranked Blue Devils (13-0) scored 12-straight points to start the second half on their way to a 67-50 victory against the Wildcats in Charlotte.

The Hickory boys basketball team rallied for the second-straight day to add to its already impressive Catawba Valley Classic résumé.

Trailing 39-38 after the third quarter, the Red Tornadoes outscored Newton-Conover 23-11 in the final stanza to come away with their 17th Classic championship.

Hickory wins record 14th girls Classic title

Hickory won its second-straight Catawba Valley Classic girls title, knocking off previously unbeaten Alexander Central, 74-43.

Behind 17 points from tournament MVP Yazmen Hannah, the Lady Red Tornadoes (11-0) won a battle of unbeaten teams against the Lady Cougars (12-1).

Hornets extend Bobcats' skid to 18 games

Eric Gordon made his return to the lineup Saturday night. And for the better part of 24 minutes, he looked as if he'd never been away.

Gordon had 24 points and seven assists, helping the New Orleans Hornets overcome a 21-point first-half deficit and extend the Charlotte Bobcats' losing streak to 18 games with a 98-95 victory Saturday night.
