Harvick wins Bank of America 500, advances in Chase

October 11, 2014

Kevin Harvick led 162 of the 334 laps on Saturday, winning the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Harvick held off Jeff Gordon and Jamie McMurray on a green-white-checker restart to win his third race of the season.

Gordon was second, followed by McMurray in third, Joey Logano in fourth and Kyle Busch in fifth.

Warriors clip Blue Devils in two overtimes, 28-27

The Maiden football team drove to the West Caldwell one-yard line twice in the final three minutes, but the Blue Devils couldn’t come through.

Rakeem Spikes’ four-yard touchdown run on 4th and 4 helped the Warriors pull off the 28-27 double-overtime victory on the road against Maiden on Friday.

Red Devils win thriller with Rebels, 48-41

Jalen Conner’s 32-yard catch from Cameron Stanley with 4:44 left was the difference maker for Newton-Conover in a 48-41 victory against West Lincoln on Friday.

Newton-Conover improves its record to 6-0-1 overall and 3-0 in SD-7 games heading into a crucial match up next Friday with another perennial power in East Lincoln.

The Blue Devil senior runner won the 22nd United Way Invitational at Southside Park for the first time in his career.
