Golf commentator, author and talk show host David Feherty spoke to the Hickory Sportsman’s Club at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover on Wednesday.

He is the host self-title show “Feherty” on The Golf Channel, author of six books and is a part of the commentator team for golf coverage on CBS.

Four area athletes sign with colleges, universities

Former Trojan selected to World Cup wrestling team

April 29, 2014

A Bandys High School graduate will compete among the world’s best wrestlers in two weeks.

Daren Burns, a former two-time state champion with the Trojans, was invited by USA Wrestling to compete at the World Cup on the U.S. Greco-Roman National Team in Tehran, Iran on May 15-16.

EASTER CLASSIC: Tigers tame Tornadoes, take title

Grabbing an early lead and holding off a late charge by rival Hickory, the Fred T. Foard baseball team added more history to its program on Wednesday.

The Tigers defeated the Red Tornadoes, 7-4, in the championship game of the 24th Annual Catawba County Easter Baseball Classic at Henkel-Alley Field at the American Legion Faigrounds.
