Story growing in first season with Lady Mountaineers

A year removed from suiting up for the Bandys girls basketball team, Madi Story is making strides in her first season with the Appalachian State women’s basketball program.

Coming from the prep basketball scene, Story has been adapting to playing at the Division I level with the Lady Mountaineers.

Pait exits CVCC baseball program; Rozzelle promoted

In an emotional meeting with his team on Thrusday, Catawba Valley Community College men’s baseball coach Frank Pait announced that he has stepped down and will assume a new role as a counselor at Hickory High School. 

Assistant baseball coach Paul Rozzelle has been named interim head coach of the Red Hawks for the spring 2014 season. 

Paying his dues, Tigers' Jarrett becomes mat leader

From middle school reserve to high school starter, Fred T. Foard senior wrestler Spencer Jarrett has proven that perseverance pays off.

One of four captains for the Tigers, Jarrett is thriving for the Foard wrestling program despite some struggles earlier in his career.

Jarrett started wrestling in eighth grade at Jacobs Fork Middle School.

Panther defense dominant in 1st playoff win since '06

The Carolina Panthers unleashed 10 long years of frustration on Saturday against visiting Arizona.

Holding the Cardinals to an NFL playoff record-low 78 yards of total offense, the Panthers moved on to the NFC Divisional playoff round with a 27-16 win.

It’s the first playoff win for the Panthers franchise since Jan. 15, 2006.
