Former Foard standout Robinson excels in two sports

Signing to play college basketball in high school, Brooke Robinson never imagined she would continue running track & field in college.

The Fred T. Foard grad and Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore is excelling at two sports, and she hopes to lead the Lady Bears to a South Atlantic Conference championship at today’s conference meet in Hickory.

Fresh off his no-hit performance this past weekend, Bryce Hensley has been awarded for his play.

The freshman left-hander was named the Pitcher of the Week by the National Junior College Athletic Association for the week of April 6-12.

5 names in 2015 Catawba County Sports HOF class

April 14, 2015

The Catawba County Sports Hall of Fame will add five members on May 11 to its list of 61 names already enshrined.

The Hall of Fame’s 2015 class was announced on Tuesday at the Highland Recreation Center, and it features a longtime head coach, two former prep standouts, a journeyman race car driver and a bass fisherman.

Crawdads three-hit Hagerstown in their opener

April 9, 2015

Giving up just two runs and three hits, the Hickory Crawdads earned a 5-2 win in their season opener Thursday at L.P. Frans Stadium against the Hagerstown Suns.

'Dads starter Ariel Jurado and relievers Adam Parks and John Fasola combined for the three-hitter, striking out 15 Suns batters during the contest.
