Ashley Moore Hart, 42, of Hickory, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice. The Hart family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home & Cremations in Newton.

Scott William Grantham, 50, of 1371 5th St. NE in Hickory was arrested on Friday, May 3 at Arndt Middle School for the two felony charges. Grantham was an English as Second Language teacher at the school.
The headline act for the Conover Tavern was arrested Saturday at the Holiday Inn Express in Conover for drug related offenses.
Rap artist, Sean P. Joseph from Atlanta Ga., was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver marijuana, simple assault and Possession of Scheduled III Controlled substance.

Prep soccer
A number of different prep sports events from Monday were postponed due to rain in the area.
Baseball and softball tournaments in the Catawba Valley 2A were moved to Tuesday.
May 3rd
Sophomore Ricki Kuhn’s two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning lifted Maiden to a 3-2 victory against Bunker Hill in the semifinals of the CVAC softball tournament on Friday at MHS.
The Lady Blue Devils (19-3) face Draughn in the tournament final on Monday in a rematch of last week’s 8-1 loss by Maiden in its season finale in Valdese.
