CHARLOTTE â€” The Panthers announced they've traded running back Mike Goodson to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for offensive tackle Bruce Campbell.
Goodson, who ran for 501 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons with Carolina, became expendable after the team signed free agent running back Mike Tolbert earlier this offseason.
Thelma Louise Wilkinson Jones, of Catawba, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, four days prior to her 91st birthday, at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley after a brief illness, but a longer period of generally declining health. The Jones family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home and Cremations in Conover.

The following Catawba County citizens were convicted of felony offenses and were sentenced this week in Criminal Superior Court.
*Jeffery Scott Canipe, 37, of Hickory was convicted of felony indecent liberties with a child and was sentenced to 21-26 months in the N.C. Department of Correction.
Newton has canceled its city council meeting scheduled for Tuesday.
The council will next meet April 17 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
