Bears host 100-inning game on Saturday

A nearly two-decade tradition continues Saturday at Bunker Hill High School.

The Bears baseball team will host another edition of the 100-inning game, the program’s largest annual financial fundraiser.

Maiden’s Town Council wants more information before it makes a final decision about a proposed new town hall.

Council members agreed Monday they wanted an idea of what the next fiscal year’s budget looks like before they decide on the proposed $2 million headquarters.

Wednesday's Crawdads game postponed due to rain

Wednesday's scheduled game between the Hickory Crawdads and Kannapolis Intimidators at L.P. Frans Stadium was postponed due to rain.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader in Hickory on Monday, May 21, with the first of two seven-inning games starting at 4 p.m.

Cops arrest 11 at Hickory adult club

Police arrested 11 people at a Hickory adult entertainment club last week on sex, alcohol and drug charges.


The charges stem from a five-month investigation at Thee Playhouse on N.C. 64-70 in Hickory, where N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) agents made drug purchases and observed multiple alcohol violations.


BREAKING: Dick Clark dead at 82

LOS ANGELES — Dick Clark, the ever-youthful television host and tireless entrepreneur who helped bring rock 'n' roll into the mainstream on "American Bandstand," and later produced and hosted a vast range of programming from game shows to the New Year's Eve countdown from Times Square, has died. He was 82.

C.J. Leslie returning for junior season at N.C. State

RALEIGH — Basketball standout C.J. Leslie is returning to North Carolina State for his junior season.

The school issued a statement saying Leslie would discuss his decision Wednesday afternoon during a scheduled press conference.

The 6-foot-8 forward averaged a team-best 14.7 points and added 7.3 rebounds per game.
