The last Monday in May is known to many as the start of the summer, with cookouts and lake trips. This Memorial Day, while enjoying grilled foods, also take time to venture out and remember the sacrifices made for freedom.

The former Lenoir-Rhyne standout replaces Katie Chapman, who coached the Lady Blue Devils for the past four season.

The Fred T. Foard softball team committed eight errors on Tuesday en route to a 4-3 loss to Enka in the fourth round of the 3A playoffs in Newton.
Foard, who was the 3A state runner-up last year, finishes its season with a 23-5 overall record.

CHARLOTTE — Michael Jordan's Charlotte Bobcats are having just as tough of a time winning the NBA lottery as they are winning basketball games of late.
