Four Crawdads drove in two runs each, helping Hickory pick up an 11-4 road victory over Asheville in minor league baseball action on Tuesday.
Nick Williams, Joe Maloney, Nomar Mazara and Jordan Akins each had two RBIs for Hickory (6-7) in the win. Williams, Maloney and Akins also had a home run each.
April 15th
Catawba County prep basketball players collided on the court Saturday with top college basketball players for the 35th Annual ACC Barnstorming Tour at David Craft Gymnasium at Hickory High School.
Among the many college players in attendance for the event were Duke’s Ryan Kelly, Mason Plumlee and Seth Curry.

The Charlotte Bobcats have a chance to shed the label of NBA's worst team heading into the offseason.
The Bobcats enter the season finale Wednesday night tied with Orlando for the worst record in the NBA at 20-61. Both teams have one game left — the Bobcats host Cleveland, while the Magic visit Miami.

Behind the play of junior catcher Meggie Gentle, the Bandys softball team continued to keep pace near the top of the Catawba Valley 2A standings with an 8-1 home victory against Newton-Conover on Friday.
The Kannapolis Intimidators scored 10 runs on 10 hits to defeat the Hickory Crawdads 10-2 in minor league baseball action on Friday.
Jason Coats, Michael Johnson and Patrick Palmeiro each drove in two runs to lead the Intimidators (6-3).
Jordan Akins paced Hickory (3-6) with one RBI and one run scored on a 1-for-4 day at the plate.

The St. Stephens tennis team honored its five senior members on Thursday and continued its roll this season in the process.
The Indians swept rival Fred T. Foard in singles and doubles play to come away with a 9-0 conference win at home.
Saint improves to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in NWC play, while Fred T. Foard drops to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in conference tennis matches.
