Maiden 42, Lincolnton 14

East Lincoln 42, West Lincoln 15
Freedom 48, Patton 14
East Rutherford 31, Chase 17
Despite its first difficult setback last week against East Lincoln, the Maiden football team attempts to bounce back tonight when it hosts Lincolnton.
The Blue Devils (9-1, 5-1) were held in check on offense last week in a 42-0 loss against the Mustangs.
NEWTON â€”Â Bandys junior varsity quarterback Jarrett Pemleton scored three touchdowns, leading the Trojans past Newton-Conover on Thursday night at Gurley Stadium.

LENOIR â€” The Newton-Conover boys soccer team owned the first half of Wednesdayâ€™s 2A playoff game against West Caldwell.
The Warriors, though, scored late to advance.
West Caldwell pocketed two second-half goals, including a controversial score with eight minutes to go, earning a 2-1 victory against the Red Devils at Thuss Stadium.

Saturday's fourth-round games
The Newton-Convoer athletic program is hosting a golf tournament on Sunday at River Oaks Golf Club in Statesville.
Sign-ins for the tournament start at noon. The event will get underway a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

The Blue Devil junior won the 2A cross-country state championship held at the Redmon Sports Complex.

The Catawba Valley Community College women's volleyball team won the Region X/District P championship at Saturday at the Tarlton Complex.
The Lady Bucs, who improve to 39-0 on the season, defeated Wake Tech in three sets (25-14, 25-17, 25-9) to advance to the championship final.
