Hornets sign former Tar Heel forward Marvin Williams

After coming up short in the chase for Utah guard Gordon Hayward, the Charlotte Hornets have settled on another Jazz product.

Forward Marvin Williams has signed a two-year, $14 million deal with the Hornets, according to sources. All of Williams’ contract is guaranteed with no options — team or player.

Hornets fall to Warriors in Summer League opener

LAS VEGAS — Facing the defending Summer League champions was no easy task for the Charlotte Hornets on Friday.

The Golden State Warriors took a 11-0 advantage early in the contest and led wire-to-wire in a 70-58 victory against the Hornets at the Thomas and Mack Center.

Hickory Post 48 eliminated by Asheville in game four

Hickory Post 48’s season was ended on Friday at the hands of Asheville Post 70.

After winning two of the first three games in the series, Asheville took an early lead in game No. 4 on Friday at Henkel-Alley Field and never looked back on its way to a 5-4 victory.

On Wednesday, I was able to participate in a unique bowling event in Mooresville with two of NASCAR’s young and bright stars — Kasey Kahne and Joey Logano.

Asheville Post 70 defeated Hickory Post 48 in walkoff home run fashion Wednesday, but not amid controversy.

Post 70, which takes a 2-1 series lead, reportedly used an ineligible player in its game.

Hickory bats blast Asheville; series tied 1-1

July 9, 2014

Down 3-1 in the seventh, the offensive for Hickory Post 48 exploded.

Hickory scored 10 runs during the stanza, going on to win 14-4 in eight innings against Asheville to tied the series at a game apiece.

Post 70 uses three-run seventh to take 1-0 series lead

Asheville used a three-run seventh inning to defeated Hickory, 7-5, in the first game of the two team's Area IV playoff series on Monday.

Post 70 takes a 1-0 series lead against Post 48 heading into tonight's second game at Henkel-Alley Field at the Hickory American Legion Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.

Hickory beats Alexander County, 7-5, to win series

Hickory Post 48 is in the second round of the Area IV playoffs.

Post 48 defeated Alexander County, 7-5, on Friday at Henkel-Alley Field to advance with a 3-1 series victory.

Deadlocked 5-5 in the eighth inning, Hickory broke its tie with back-to-back RBI hits from Ky'rawn Whitfield and Austin LaPierre — two of 15 base knocks for the squad in the contest.

Rudisill's six-hitter gives Hickory 2-1 series lead

Aaron Rudisll tossed a complete game six-hitter, helping Hickory Post 48 take a 2-1 series lead against Alexander County Post 170 with a 6-1 victory on Thursday in Taylorsville.

The pitching performance comes just two days after Rudisill suffered a hip injury while being hit during an at bat.

Cameron Chapman and Jordan Eckard led Post 48 offensively in the victory.
