When Bobcats coach Mike Dunlap looks at point guard Kemba Walker he sees the NBA's next coming of Chris Paul.
Sounds like a reach, but that's how much faith Charlotte's rookie coach has in the second-year player out of Connecticut.
Dunlap has repeatedly told Walker "we're centering our team around you. You're that guy. Now live up to that billing and own what that means."
Brooke Robinson has rebounded many times in her prep basketball career at Fred T. Foard, but none bigger than tonight against South Caldwell.Â
The 6-foot senior post player for the Lady Tigers makes her debut on the court against the Lady Spartans after suffering a debilitating injury during this past summer.
It's not quite a winning streak, but after losing 18 straight, coming out on top in two out of three games is close enough.
Kemba Walker had 20 points and seven assists, Ben Gordon scored 18 points and the Charlotte Bobcats beat the Detroit Pistons 108-101 in overtime Sunday night for just their second win in 21 games.
The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team kicked off the new year by defeating South Carolina Sports Academy 99-82 on Saturday.
Five Bucs players scored in double figures, led by Josh McClain with 22 points.
Preston Early chipped in 18 points for CVCC (10-4), while Isaiah Cuthbertson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Ron Rivera will return as coach of the Carolina Panthers next season following his team's strong finish.
Panthers spokesman Charlie Dayton said Rivera met with owner Jerry Richardson Saturday morning and was informed that he will return for a third season. Rivera has two years on his current contract.
"He's going about normal preparations for next season," Dayton said.

Cleveland's Kyrie Irving scored 33 points on Friday against the Charlotte Bobcats, but none were more important than his final two.
With one second left, Irving connected on a 12-foot jumper over top of Charlotte's Jeffery Taylor, lifting the Cavaliers to a 106-104 victory against the Bobcats at Time Warner Cable Arena.
Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson has scheduled a meeting with Ron Rivera Saturday morning to discuss the coach's future with the team, said a person familiar with the situation.
The person spoke to The Associated Press Friday on condition of anonymity because the meeting has not been publically announced.
The Hickory Crawdads' field staff for the 2013 season was announced Thursday by the Texas Rangers, including a new leading man.
Former 'Dads player Corey Ragsdale takes over at the helm as the team's field manager, replacing veteran Bill Richardson. The 30-year-old Ragsdale becomes the 13th manager in Crawdads' history.
