Weather delayed the second half of prep football between Fred T. Foard and West Lincoln high schools on Friday night.
The storms couldn't delay the inevitable result.
Behind running back Jacob Schmidt and quarterback Matt Williams, the Tigers ran past the Rebels for their second win of the season on Saturday, 42-28.
DURHAM, N.C. — Scoring 40-straight points, UNC Charlotte avenged a painful loss to North Carolina Central in its inaugural college football season last year with a 40-28 road victory on Saturday.
ETTRICK, Va. — Ranked No. 6 in NCAA Div. II, the Lenoir-Rhyne football team scored the game's final 23 points en route to a 33-6 victory over Virginia State on Saturday afternoon at Rogers Stadium.
A much-hyped match up on the football field between Newton-Conover and Freedom had a damper put on it Friday.
Rain and lightning forced a 13-13 tie between the two squads, and the game, which was stopped with 2:36 left until halftime, will not be made up.
Both teams will receive a tie on their regular season record as a result of the game.
Caleb Farley scored four touchdowns and Asani Forte added three in a 56-48 Maiden victory against St. Stephens on Friday in Hickory.
Forte rushed for a team- and game-high 226 yards in the contest for Maiden (3-0), while Farley added 124 on the ground and 50 through the air.
St. Stephens (1-2) was led by a pair of 100-yard rushers in Spencer Brown and Janarion Knox.
