WINSTON-SALEM — Chazz Surratt threw for a score and ran for another to help East Lincoln beat Washington 14-13 on Saturday in the Class 2AA North Carolina High School Athletic Association championship game.

Former N-CHS assistant Natoli leaves Warriors

December 12, 2014

A former Newton-Conover assitant football coach won’t return to his head football coaching position.

West Iredell High School announced on Friday that Mike Natoli, who spent the past two seasons as head coach of the Warriors, would not be returning for a third season.

From 2004-09, Natoli was an offensive coordinator under former Red Devil head football coach Nick Bazzle.

The pairings for the 2014 Dick's Sporting Goods Catawba Valley Classic basketball tournament were released on Thursday afternoon.

No. 2 South Caldwell vs. No. 7 Newton-Conover, 10 a.m.

Hickory boys top Red Devils in basketball rematch

Left with a sour taste in its mouth from last Friday’s 65-62 home loss to Newton-Conover, the Hickory boys basketball team responded in a big way.

The Red Tornadoes jumped ahead of the Red Devils early on the road, going on to win 80-71 on Wednesday in Newton.

Red Devils pull away late from Indians, win 44-21

December 9, 2014

Both coming off tough tournament competition this past weekend, Newton-Conover and St. Stephens locked up on the wrestling mat on Tuesday in Hickory.

Up 24-21 midway through the match, the Red Devils won their final five weight classes to come away with a 44-21 road win against the Indians.
