Chubb, Bulldogs best Cardinals in Belk Bowl

Take one glance at Nick Chubb’s performance in Tuesday’s Belk Bowl, and you’d never guess he was in his freshman season at the University of Georgia

Setting a Bulldog bowl record for rushing yards with 266, Chubb helped lead Georgia to a 37-14 victory against Louisville in the 13th annual bowl game held in Charlotte.

Bumgarner named the AP's Male Athlete of the Year

Madison Bumgarner sat in the outfield alongside Jake Peavy before Game 7 of the World Series and told his teammate exactly what needed to happen: Tim Hudson would work a few innings and get the ball to Bumgarner, who would hand it off to the bullpen to finish the championship.

Peavy quickly offered his own prediction that Bumgarner would end it himself.

Pool together: Cherkez sisters anchor Lady Indians

On a St. Stephens swim team with several family ties, the Cherkez sisters help to provide a rock solid anchor.

Polina and Sophia Cherkez are hoping to lead the Lady Indians program to new heights this winter season.

The Cherkez (pronounced CHUR-KEZ) sisters started swimming when they were ages 4 (Polina) and 5 (Sophia) for the YMCA Seahorse Swim Team (YSST).

Ramseur, Fleming soak up Shrine Bowl experience

Following a week-long journey in Spartanburg, S.C., Josh Ramseur and Tyrell Fleming returned to Catawba County on Sunday.

The Newton-Conover football players are coming off an appearance in the 78th edition of the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas all-star game.

BREAKING: Classic not returning to Champions Tour

The Greater Hickory Kia Classic golf tournament won't be returning for a 13th year on the Champions Tour.

The PGA released the 2015 schedule for the Champions Tour on Wednesday, which did not include the typical October date for the golf event held annually at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover since 2003.
