After five seasons, Ryan Succop's career as a Kansas City Chief is over.
The Chiefs cut the veteran NFL kicker and former Hickory High standout on Saturday as part of reducing the team's roster to the NFL mandatory 53 players.
The Carolina Panthers reduced their roster to the NFL mandatory 53 players by 4 p.m. on Saturday.
A total of 21 players were either waived or released on Saturday by the Panthers. Among the notable releases were safety Robert Lester, guard Chris Scott and wide receiver Tavarres King.
Facing 4th and 9 on its opening drive, the Newton-Conover football team capitalized on a special teams miscue by Lexington.

The Newton-Conover and Bunker Hill volleyball programs added another page to their annual rivalry on Tuesday.
The two squads, which met in last yearâ€™s SD-7 tournament championship game, battled until the final point of every set of Tuesdayâ€™s match.
In the end, Newton-Conover came away with a straight-sets victory to pull ahead in the Southern District 7 standings early in the season.
