Cold-shooting ‘Cats collapse, lose to the Rockets

The Charlotte Bobcats struggled to make free throws in a Saturday loss to Sacramento.

On Monday, giving them up was what cost the ‘Cats a chance at another victory.

The Houston Rockets made a season-high 32 free throws to come away with a 100-94 win against the Bobcats in a rare Monday matinee game at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Rage slides by Hornets to win Florida Bowl

Catawba County came up just short in its semi-pro football postseason appearance on Saturday.

Despite forcing seven turnovers, the Hornets fell to the Orlando Rage 28-24 in the Florida Bowl — part of National Bowl Weekend in Deltona, Fla.

Missed free throws cost 'Cats in loss to Kings

Charlotte failed to make the most of its free chances on Saturday against Sacramento, and ended up paying the price.

The Bobcats (10-32) made just 26-of-38 shots from the free throw line in a 97-93 loss to the Kings at Time Warner Cable Arena on Saturday.

Starkey’s late treys help Indians bury Tornadoes

In front of a jam-packed crowd at St. Stephens High School on Friday, Logan Starkey’s clutch play late helped the Indians knock off Hickory, 53-42.

Tied 42-42 late in the game, Starkey connected on 3-pointers during back-to-back possessions to help give Saint the late edge and lead for good.

BREAKING: Panthers hire Shula to lead offense

The Carolina Panthers are turning over the keys to their offense to the son of an NFL Hall of Fame coach.

Mike Shula was promoted to offensive coordinator on Friday, the team announced.

The 47-year-old Shula replaces Rob Chudzinski, who stepped down Jan. 10 to take the Cleveland Browns head coaching position.
