The St. Stephens softball team fell in nine innings on Thursday, losing 4-3 to Enka in the third round of the 3A softball playoffs.
A sacrifice fly by Enka’s Addison Harris with one out in the ninth inning plated the winning run.
Pitcher Katie Baker had no walks and struck out 18 batters in her final game for the Lady Indians (16-8).
The game times and locations have been set for Saturday's fourth round of the 2A and 3A girls soccer playoffs.

Facing a Shelby squad that was unbeaten in its past 42 tennis matches, Newton-Conover coach Brian Tate needed his team to execute his plan to perfection on Wednesday.
However, the Red Devils (20-4) struggled at the nets, falling 5-1 to the Golden Lions in the 2A West Regional final at NCHS.
Behind Chaniece Moss’ goal on an Abby Cox assist, the Newton-Conover girls soccer team advanced to the fourth round of the 2A playoffs on Wednesday.
The Lady Red Devils defeated Owen 1-0 in Black Mountain.
Moss’ goal came at the seven-minute mark of the first half, and a stingy LRD defense held on for the one-goal shutout.
St. Stephens’ Macy Franklin scored four goals on Wednesday — all in the first half — helping the Lady Indians defeat Ashbrook 6-0 in the third round of the 3A playoffs.
Former Freedom football coach Mike Helms is the next prep football coach at Hickory High School.
Helms' hire was approved during a special session of the Hickory Public Schools Board of Education on Wednesday.

The offense for the Bandys baseball team was cold during its 2A playoff appearance.
That trend continued on Tuesday.
The Trojans, which had just two hits in a 1-0 first-round win against North Lincoln, tallied just one hit in a 4-0 second-round loss to the Shelby Golden Lions on Tuesday in Catawba.

The Newton-Conover golf team made history on Tuesday at Longleaf Golf and Country Club in Southern Pines, becoming the school's first squad to capture a state title in the sport.
