The Fred T. Foard softball team advanced to the Northwestern 3A/4A tournament final with a 3-1 victory against Watauga on Thursday.
The Lady Tigers (20-3) meet Alexander Central (24-1) today at 6 p.m. in the Northwestern 3A/4A championship game at ACHS.
With a 3-0 victory against West Caldwell on Thursday, the Newton-Conover girls soccer team made history.
The Lady Red Devils, who improved to 18-1-1 overall and 13-1 in CVAC play, claimed their first-ever conference title.

Newton-Conover's Brenda Gutierrez picked the perfect time to break through on the soccer field.
The sophomore, who entered Wednesday night's game against Maiden with one goal this season, scored the lone netter in the 69th minute in a 1-0 win for the Lady Red Devils.

The Bunker Hill baseball team spoiled “Senior Night” for Bandys, but the Trojans were the ultimate winners on Tuesday night.
By virtue of Draughn’s 10-6 loss to Maiden in extra innings, the Trojans claim their first outright CVAC title since 2001.

The Carolina Panthers were busy on Tuesday, agreeing to terms with 13 undrafted rookie free agents.
