Unified Lady Trojans focused on successful season

CATAWBA — With a new coach, a talented transfer and a new team motto, the Bandys girls basketball team is prepared to yet again make history at the school.

The Lady Trojans are coming off a 27-3 season, which included a fourth-straight trip to the 2A West Regionals at UNC-Greensboro.

Maiden TE White is honored by Carolina Panthers

CHARLOTTE — As he grinned from ear to ear, Alex White stepped on the turf at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday.

The Maiden tight end was spotlighted as a Community Captain before the Carolina Panther’s home divisional game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

TE Seth Cranfill makes the most of opportunities

BOILING SPRINGS — Seth Cranfill nearly had his dream of playing college
football taken away.

Now, the former Bandys High and current Gardner-Webb standout tight end is
making the most of his opportunity at the next level.

As a senior for the Trojans in 2009, Cranfill caught 56 passes for 1,028
yards and 12 touchdowns on the gridiron.

Trojans overcome foul trouble, Vikings in victory

CATAWBA — Overcoming some early foul trouble, the Bandys girls basketball team defeated South Iredell, 66-38, in its home opener on Tuesday.

With the win, the Lady Trojans improve to 2-0 on the season.

Early run propels Trojans in win versus Vikings

CATAWBA — The Bandys boys basketball team used a 14-0 run in the second round to propel themselves past South Iredell en route to a 66-47 home victory on Tuesday.

Red Devils fall despite 39 from Connor, Shuford

NEWTON — The Newton-Conover boys basketball team dropped a close game with Lake Norman in its home opener on Monday night.

The Red Devils (1-1) rallied in the fourth quarter, but came up short in a 74-71 loss to the Wildcats.
