The Catawba County Easter Baseball Classic enters its 23rd year on Monday at Henkel-Alley Field at the American Legion Fairgrounds.
The tournament, which has become a yearly tradition amongst Catawba County prep baseball teams, starts this Monday and continues through Wednesday.
March 26th
After being officially approved by the Catawba County Schools Board of Education as the next football coach at Fred T. Foard on Monday night, Tom Harper had one goal in mind.
"Everybody kept telling me that you can't win at Foard," he said. "It made it more attractive for me to go there and make something out of what people thought was nothing."
In a four-way tie atop the conference standings entering Tuesday’s game, the Maiden girls softball team continued to keep pace.
Behind a pair of two-RBI hits from Ricki Kuhn and Hannah Callahan, the Lady Blue Devils knocked off Bunker Hill at home, 5-1.

Appalachian State and Georgia Southern are taking their programs to the next level.
The two schools who've won a combined nine FCS championships in football are leaving the Southern Conference for the Sun Belt Conference, said a person familiar with the situation.
March 25th
Junior Rachel Pritchard scored two goals, while teammate Alexis Edwards scored her first career goal, helping the Maiden girls soccer team pick up a 3-1 victory over North Lincoln on Monday.
The Lady Blue Devils improve to 7-3 overall on the season.
Nicole Barbieri scored the lone goal for North Lincoln (0-7).

Fred T. Foard's next football coach is a familiar name in the Northwestern 3A/4A.
Hickory's Tom Harper has decided to leave the Red Tornadoes after just one season to take over the Tigers football program.
The school requested Harper's hire during Catawba County Schools Board of Education monthly meeting on Monday.

The Charlotte Bobcats signed guard Jannero Pargo to a second 10-day contract on Sunday.
The 33-year-old out of the University of Arkansas has provided a spark off of the bench in the absence of the injured Ramon Sessions.
In five games with the Bobcats, Pargo is averaging 11.2 points and 3.2 assists in 17.2 minutes per game.
