Greater Hickory Kia Classic to be on modified course

Nearly a month and a half ago, the future of the 2013 Greater Hickory Kia Classic was uncertain.

After 9.5 inches of rain in three hours gushed through Rock Barn Golf & Spa, Executive Tournament Director Jim Correll wasn’t sure whether or not the Champions Tour would be able to hold its annual event in Conover.

Lenoir-Rhyne continued to make blunder after blunder on Saturday.

The Bears committed six turnovers in a 18-10 loss to Concord (W.Va.) at Moretz Stadium.

Matt Johnson had never thrown five touchdown passes in his entire football career.

That was until Saturday.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound quarterback tossed five scores in the Charlotte 49ers’ 47-7 victory against Chowan at Richardson Stadium in Charlotte.

Late turnover, TD cost Panthers in loss to Seahawks

The Carolina Panthers showed flashes of brilliance on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

In the end, it was the same old story in another close home loss.
