When it needed a boost to fuel its engine, the Bandys girls basketball tea became Madi Story powered.
Story scored 38 points, helping the Lady Trojans overcome a sluggish first half against Newton-Conover to advance to Friday's Catawba Valley 2A tournament championship game with a 75-58 win.

Greg Monroe scored 10 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter, stepping up with Brandon Knight on the bench nursing a hyperextended right knee, to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 105-99 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night.
Knight had 21 points before injuring his knee late in the third quarter.

The Hickory boys basketball team took advantage of St. Stephens’ struggles to advance to Friday’s Northwestern 3A/4A title game with a 74-53 victory against the Indians at David Craft Gymnasium on Tuesday.
The Red Tornadoes meet Foard in Friday’s tournament final at 8 p.m. at Hickory High School.
