NEWTON â€” After a 2-9 season and missing the playoffs for the first time since 2004, Brint Russell has resigned as the head football coach at Newton-Conover High School.
Russell submitted his official letter of resignation on Wednesday to Newton-Conover City School officials.
The search for a new head varsity football coach will start immediately.
WAXHAW â€” Battling the elements and Marvin Ridge on Tuesday, the Fred T. Foardâ€™s dream soccer season came to an end.
The Tigers gave up three first-half goals, falling to the Mavericks, 4-1, in the 3A West championship game.
HICKORY â€” Cory Morgan has stepped down as the head coach of the boys soccer team at St. Stephens High School.
Morgan gave his notice to school officials and notified the team of his decision on Tuesday.
