Trojans overcome foul trouble, Vikings in victory

CATAWBA — Overcoming some early foul trouble, the Bandys girls basketball team defeated South Iredell, 66-38, in its home opener on Tuesday.

With the win, the Lady Trojans improve to 2-0 on the season.

Early run propels Trojans in win versus Vikings

CATAWBA — The Bandys boys basketball team used a 14-0 run in the second round to propel themselves past South Iredell en route to a 66-47 home victory on Tuesday.

Red Devils fall despite 39 from Connor, Shuford

NEWTON — The Newton-Conover boys basketball team dropped a close game with Lake Norman in its home opener on Monday night.

The Red Devils (1-1) rallied in the fourth quarter, but came up short in a 74-71 loss to the Wildcats.

Blue Devil's season ended at hands of Mustangs

DENVER — Leading 7-0 early against East Lincoln, the Maiden football team could smell the third round of the 2AA playoffs.

However, the Mustangs scored 28 unanswered points and forced four Maiden turnovers en route to a 42-14 win at David Clark Stadium against the Blue Devils.

GASTONIA — Behind a record night from running back Kerrion Moore, Hunter Huss advanced in the 2AA playoffs with a close 34-28 victory against Bunker Hill on Friday.
