The Blue Devils (8-0, 4-0) took a 21-10 first half lead and held off a late second half charge by the Trojans to come away with a 21-19 SD-7 victory.

MORGANTON â€” The Watauga Pioneers swept both team honors during Wednesdayâ€™s Northwestern 3A/4A Cross-Country meet at Freedom High School.
The Pioneers scored 43 points on the boys side and 41 on the girls side to win both championships.

NEWTON â€” Bunker Hill and Newton-Conover had met twice on the volleyball court this season, each earning a victory.
The two teams met again on Tuesday â€” this time with the Southern District 7 Athletic 2A tournament title on the line.
The Lady Bears (19-6) won the â€śrubber matchâ€ť between the two schools in four sets to claim the 2013 SD-7 conference tournament championship.
