November 16th
The Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team had its season ended on Friday in Toledo, Ohio, but not before making some history first.
The 14th-seeded Lady Bucs won their first-ever National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Div. II Tournament game with a straight-sets victory (27-25, 31-29, 25-11) against No. 6 Moraine Valley Community College.
November 15th
In a match up featuring the defending 2A and 3A Western Region champions, the Newton-Conover and Fred T. Foard wrestling teams got an early glimpse of one another on Thursday.
The Red Devils hosted the scrimmage at the school’s main gym against the Tigers.
The Observer News Enterprise "Game of the Week" features Bandys traveling to South Iredell in the third round of the 2AA playoffs.

Nine Catawba County high school student-athletes made their college decisions official on Wednesday, including five at Fred T. Foard, two at Maiden and one each at St. Stephens and Hickory.

The Newton-Conover High School girls basketball team is hosting a “Battle of the Border” Preseason Jamborees this Saturday.
The Lady Red Devils are scheduled to compete in varsity and junior varsity competition.
Both squads will compete against the JV and varsity teams from Patton, Myers Park, Alexander Central, Butler, Winston-Salem Prep and Hough.

The Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team is prepared for its sixth appearance in the National Junior College Athletic Association National Tournament in Toledo, Ohio.
The Lady Bucs (34-0) plays Parkland College (42-7) in the opening game of the tournament on Thursday at 9 a.m.
The Newton-Conover and Hickory soccer teams competed on Tuesday for a chance to play in their respective title games.
The Red Devils dropped a heart breaker to Cuthbertson, while Hickory won a tight game against Charlotte Catholic.

Bobcats coach Mike Dunlap talked throughout the offseason about changing the culture in the organization and building a winning atmosphere in Charlotte.
Apparently his players were listening.
The Charlotte Bobcats have acquired forward Hakim Warrick from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for guard Matt Carroll, the team announced on Tuesday.
Currently in his eighth NBA season, the 6-foot-9 Warrick has career averages of 9.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 499 games for the Grizzlies, Bucks, Bulls, Suns and Hornets.
