Cole McGraw’s 5 RBIs lifts Hickory to next round

Continuing its offensive output this postseason, Hickory Post 48 scored more than 10 runs for the third-straight playoff game, knocking off Kings Mountain at Henkel-Alley Field on Thursday, 12-10.

With the 3-0 series win, Hickory (18-4) advances to the second round of the playoffs, where it meets the Gaston Braves (13-4), who swept Henderson County.

Shorebirds best Crawdads in game two of series

After being one-hit against Hickory on the Fourth of July, the Delmarva Shorebirds returned the favor in game two of the series, handing the 'Dads a 6-4 loss at L.P. Frans Stadium on Thursday.

The Shorebirds (4-10 in the second half, 32-51 overall) were powered by a two-run fourth inning and three-run sixth frame, overcoming a 4-2 deficit in the game to take the lead for good.
