Ashley Oliver is making the most of her fourth opportunity.
After Fred T. Foard softball teams failed to get past the sectional round of the playoffs in each of Oliver’s first three seasons, she’s helping to power the Lady Tigers’ offense in a deep playoff run this year.
Catawba Valley Community College will open play at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Div. II World Series on Saturday in Enid, Okla.
The Bucs, who are 36-15 on the season, face the Midwest/Region 24 champions, Heartland Community College (51-6), in the first game of the Series on Saturday at 9 a.m.
The Hickory Crawdads and Kannapolis Intimidators split a doubleheader Monday at L.P. Frans Stadium.
The Crawdads (20-22) took the first game, 5-1, behind a three-run first inning and a two-run second inning.
Zach Cone led the 'Dads in the game with a double and two RBIs. Trever Adams and Luis Sardinas also drove in an RBI each.
