Ex-fighter helps youth through martial arts

After he retired from competing in kickboxing and karate, Roosevelt Moss decided to give back the best way he could — teaching young people the sports he loves.

Lady Bears move back into top 25 poll

The Lenoir-Rhyne softball team moved back into the national rankings this week. The Lady Bears are ranked No. 23 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Div. II top 25 Poll.

Lenoir-Rhyne is 37-10 on the season, and has won 15 of its last 16 games including eight straight contests.

Crawdads opener postponed due to weather

The kickoff to the 20th season of Hickory Crawdads baseball was delayed on Thursday due to weather.

The 'Dads were scheduled to play at Kannapolis, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday with back-to-back seven-inning games starting at 6:05 p.m.
