Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly was named the NFC's Defensive Player of the Week following his performance on Sunday.
Kuechly, a rookie out of Boston College, made 16 tackles (a career high) to help Carolina defeat rival Atlanta, 30-20. He currently leads the NFL in tackles with 130.
The Bandys wrestling team hosed Fred T. Foard and Mooresville high schools in a tri-match on Tuesday in Catawba.
The Tigers earned a sweep of both squads, improving their overall dual record to 17-1 entering Saturday’s annual Tigerland tournament held at Foard.
Bandys (4-7) fell to Foard, 58-13, and Mooresville, 43-33, in Tuesday’s home match.

The Lady Tigers delivered the Lady Trojans their first loss of the season Tuesday in Newton.
Chelsea Turner led Foard (4-2) with 19 points, while Courtney Hull added 10 points.
Foard's Kayla Whitworth also recorded her third-straight double-double in Tuesday's game. Whitworth tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds.
