The Panthers rallied for a 44-38 victory on Sunday that dropped the Saints to their first losing season since 2007.

The Hickory boys basketball team rallied for the second-straight day to add to its already impressive Catawba Valley Classic résumé.
Trailing 39-38 after the third quarter, the Red Tornadoes outscored Newton-Conover 23-11 in the final stanza to come away with their 17th Classic championship.
Hickory won its second-straight Catawba Valley Classic girls title, knocking off previously unbeaten Alexander Central, 74-43.
Behind 17 points from tournament MVP Yazmen Hannah, the Lady Red Tornadoes (11-0) won a battle of unbeaten teams against the Lady Cougars (12-1).

Eric Gordon made his return to the lineup Saturday night. And for the better part of 24 minutes, he looked as if he'd never been away.
Gordon had 24 points and seven assists, helping the New Orleans Hornets overcome a 21-point first-half deficit and extend the Charlotte Bobcats' losing streak to 18 games with a 98-95 victory Saturday night.

The Nets gave their interim coach a victory in his debut and the Charlotte Bobcats a 17th straight loss, getting 26 points and 11 rebounds from Brook Lopez in a 97-81 rout Friday night.

A person familiar with the penalty says the NFL has fined Panthers quarterback Cam Newton $21,000 for abusive conduct toward a game official.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday on condition of anonymity because the league hasn't announced the fine.
Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade was suspended one game without pay by the NBA on Thursday for flailing his leg and making contact with the groin of Charlotte Bobcats' Ramon Sessions.
