Hernandez, Xiong guide Bunker HIll past Bandys

The breakthrough season for Bunker Hill on the soccer field continued Tuesday in Catawba.

Behind two goals each from Joel Hernandez and Richard Xiong, the Bears knocked off Bandys on the road for their sixth victory.

PREP NOTEBOOK: Tuesday's scores, postponements

Four prep contests in soccer and tennis were postponed on Tuesday due to weather.

Bunker Hill at Bandys and Maiden at Draughn tennis will both be played on Wednesday, weather permitting.

Fred. Foard at Hickory soccer, which was postponed from Monday, was moved to Thursday.

Newton-Conover hosts West Caldwell next Monday for a pivotal soccer match.

Prep volleyball

CVCC tops Spartanburg Methodist, moves to 18-0

The Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team won its 18th straight volleyball game on the road Tuesday against Spartanburg Methodist 25-18, 25-15 and 25-22.

Jennifer Beatty led the Lady Bucs (18-0, 8-0) with 10 kills, 17 digs, one ace, one assist and two blocks.

Lacy Goodson also tallied 27 assists for CVCC.
