Cherryville Post 100 won a third and deciding game against Hickory Post 48 in the Area IV title series on Monday.
Hickory (20-11) is the Area IV runner-up. They will be the Area IV No. 2 seed at the North Carolina Legion State Tournament, which starts on Friday in Morehead City at 4:30 p.m.
By virtue of their title win, Cherryville (26-7) will be the No. 1 seed in Area IV at the state tournament.
Leading Post 48 in the loss was Skyler Hollar, who had a home run and one RBI.
Cameron Beard, Cole McGraw, Jacob Hoyle and Jeremy Null also had one RBI each.
South Caldwell and Cary earned hard-fought wins on Monday to advance to the final day of the Junior Legion State Tournament on Tuesday at Henkel-Alley Field.
South Caldwell (3-1) and Cary (3-1) play Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the loser being eliminated.
Cary defeated South Caldwell, 8-5, in the second round of the Junior Legion tournament on Saturday.
The winner of the South Caldwell-Cary game will await West Johnston (3-1) in the second game of a Tuesday doubleheader 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
