Trojans playing Hornets for second straight season

March 2, 2011

The Lady Trojans basketball team will face a familiar opponent tonight in Greensboro, when they take on Salisbury.

Bandys (27-3) faced off against the Lady Hornets (24-1) in last year’s Regional semifinals. Salisbury won that game, 45-31, and eventually the state championship.

The last two seasons, the Hornets are an incredible 53-1. Their only blemish in those 54 games was a Nov. 22 loss to Butler, 60-50.

Red Devils seek return to Regional finals

March 2, 2011

The Lady Red Devils’ basketball team is seeking a return trip to the 2A Regional finals.

Newton-Conover (24-3) reached the finals last season after defeating Shelby, 59-38. They face the Thomasville Lady Bulldogs (23-6) tonight in Greensboro in one of two Regional semifinal games for a chance to repeat that feat.

Head coach Jonathan Tharpe believes his team is more focused at this point in the season than they were last year.
