Harden Wins Golden Helmet

Newton-Conover running back Octavius Harden, pictured with head coach Nick Bazzle, is the winner of this week’s Golden Helmet Award presented by Coca-Cola. Harden on Friday against Hickory returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and rushed for two more in the Red Devils’ 48-34 win. He finished the game with 19 carries and 198 yards rushing

Bears Want To Bounce Back From Loss

Lenoir-Rhyne suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, and it wants to bounce back this week with a win at home.

The Bears play the Davidson Wildcats at 7 p.m. Saturday in Hickory. Lenoir-Rhyne is 1-1 this season, and Davidson is 0-1 after a 20-10 season-opening loss to Georgetown. The Bears lost 20-17 on Saturday to Concord.
