Indians Battle Knights

September 2, 2010

The St. Stephens Indians won 1-0 on Wednesday over the North Lincoln Knights, the 14th ranked 2-A team in North Carolina. Andrew Zachrich scored the lone goal of the match in the 27th minute, and the Indians improved to 5-2-1 with Wednesday’s win. St. Stephens' Jon Holloway was in goal and recorded the shutout.

The Hickory Crawdads’ offense exploded in the third, fourth and fifth innings Wednesday at Asheville. The Crawdads scored eight runs in the three-inning stretch en route to a 10-3 win Wednesday over the Tourists.

Hickory Motor Speedway will host the 34th Annual Bad Boy Mowers Bobby Isaac Memorial 200 on Monday, September 6, 2010.  The inaugural event took place in 1977 to honor the late NASCAR Grand National Champion, Bobby Isaac.

“The Bobby Isaac Memorial promises to bring out some of the best names in short track racing,” remarked HMS General Manager Kevin Piercy.  “We also changed the format for the Late Models to a 150-lap race with a four tire rule to help the racers in these tough economic times.”
