Hickory Shuts Down Foard

September 15, 2010

The Hickory Red Tornadoes rode to Fred T. Foard with a 10-game unbeaten streak in tow, and they left with the streak intact. The sixth-ranked Red Tornadoes scored two goals in the second half en route to a 3-0 shutout over the unranked Tigers.

“Foard is a tough place to play, so we knew we were going to be challenged and have to bring our ‘A’ game,” Hickory coach Brian Jillings. “We were going to heave to earn those goals.”

Hickory improved to 10-0-1 this season and 2-0-0 against the Northwestern 3-A/4-A. Foard fell to 6-2-3 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play.
