September 1, 2010

Lenoir-Rhyne and Concord enter the game Saturday with one win after one game in the 2010 season. Only one team will leave Moretz Stadium with a second. The Bears and Mountain Lions are both 1-0, and they kick off at 7 p.m. Saturday in Hickory.

N-C Earns Big Win Over Bandys

September 1, 2010

Newton-Conover won the third game of its match against Bandys by 15 points, and it rode that momentum to a key conference win. The Red Devils defeated the Trojans 3-1 on Tuesday at Newton-Conover.

“We got the girls together, and we had good serving and defense,” Newton-Conover coach Linda Richards said. “It was just good team play.”
Newton-Conover won the games 25-17, 21-25, 25-10 and 25-20 in a rematch of the 2009 Catawba Valley 2A conference tournament final. The leader of the Red Devils’ match-changing win in Game 3 was Isabella Zaliagiris.
