Summers gets all-American honors

December 21, 2010

A love for soccer at age 4 led Sabrina Summers to a national all-American team.
Summers, 17 and a senior at St. Stephens High School, was one of 37 female soccer players from across the nation selected to win an award on the National High School Scholar All-American Team.
“I was kind of surprised,” Summers said, adding her busy school and soccer schedules kept her mind occupied and off of her coach’s nomination.
St. Stephens head soccer coach Chuck Davis nominated Summers for the prestigious award because of her strong athletic and academic skills.

Newton-Conover lineman Mikey Comer was among them.

Comer was at the stadium Sunday before kickoff on a stage in the west end of the field. His name was called over the public address system and his face on the giant screen as one of the Carolina Panthers’ Community Captains.
