Maiden Still In Second

Maiden beat East Burke 3-0 at home Tuesday to remain within three games of first-place Newton-Conover in the Catawba Valley 2-A standings. The Blue Devils are 9-3 in conference play, including a sweep of rival Bandys, and the Red Devils are 12-0. Maiden won 25-11, 25-16, 25-19 over East Burke. Melanie Annas had a team-high 13 kills, Lauren Sizemore had 11, and McKenzie Garrison had nine. Ibtxhis Khang led Maiden with 43 assists in the win. Maiden plays Thursday at Bunker Hill.
