Fleeta Eckard Cook, age 86, of Hickory, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. Burke Mortuary in Newton is serving the Cook family.

James Summy Leatherman, age 73, of Newton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Conover Nursing and Rehab Center surrounded by his family. Burke Mortuary in Newton is serving the Leatherman family.

John Jay Wilfong, 93, of Shalimar, Fla. died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the nephews of Col. Wilfong.
