Dear editor:
There seems to be lots of hoopla going on these days about the dire straits of athletics at Maiden High School.
For a few years it seemed as if Blue Devil athletics were on a declining trend struggling to regain the glories of past seasons. In all the debate over coaching, everyone has overlooked what this bunch of kids has accomplished.

Editor's note: The following letter to Catawba County Schools Superintendent Glenn Barger was shared with The Observer News Enterprise.
Glenn,
As a resident of Maiden and a taxpayer in Catawba County, I along with most of the Maiden High School district want to know what is going on with our football coach, and it is OUR coach since this is our community.
Dear editor:
As a native of Catawba County, I would like to voice my support for Barbara Beatty for Catawba County Commissioner. Barbara Beatty has worked tirelessly for the citizens of Catawba County. She provides great constitutent service and works to find solutions to all citizens concerns-large and small.

Dear editor:
I am writing in response to the editorial written by Thomas S. Kern III (“Marriage amendment not about discrimination,” The O-N-E, May 3).
May 3rd
Dear editor:
The marriage amendment is not about or intended to discriminate. It is about preserving and protecting an institution that has existed for almost thousands of years.

After almost eight months of my wife’s pregnancy, we’ve been through a few educational adventures in furniture assembly, nursery preparation and wardrobe navigation. I’ve even read up a little on being a good daddy-to-be courtesy “The Caveman’s Pregnancy Companion: A survival guide for expectant fathers.”
OK, well I’ve read most of it. Err ... would you buy ... some of it?

Dear People of God:
We write to you as Bishops Diocesan of the three Dioceses of The Episcopal Church in North Carolina to share our opposition to the state’s proposed constitutional amendment, Senate Bill 514, also known as Amendment One. We do so as followers of Jesus Christ, as Bishops in The Episcopal Church, and as citizens of our state and nation.

Dear editor:
I am 21 years old. I went through 13 years of school in Catawba County Schools, plus two more at CVCC. I now attend Appalachian State.
Through all my years of school, history has shown me that groups of people have always fought for equal rights.
