Local man part of Panthers’ Purrcussion drumline

CHARLOTTE — A Hickory man is sticking to his musical roots, thanks to the Carolina Panthers.

Jason Meyer is one of 25 members in the Carolina Panthers’ Purrcussion drumline.

The 27-year-old comes from a strong musical lineage.

Isenhower to serve on Golden LEAF Board

A Newton attorney and vice-chair of the Catawba County Board of Commissioners, C. Randall “Randy” Isenhower, has been appointed by Philip E. Berger, President Pro Tempore of the North Carolina General Assembly, to serve on the board of directors of the Golden LEAF (Long-Term Economic Advancement ) Foundation.

Pair of guns found in shooting suspect's home

CONOVER — A shotgun and a .38-special were found inside the home of a Sunday morning shooting suspect after a search of his home.

Twenty-six year old Mee See, who appeared in court for the first time Monday, is charged with attempted murder of his girlfriend, Crystal Lor, 19, of Conover.

Thread Trail plan tries to tie county together

Mundy, Robinson celebrate more than 100 years

On June 4, 1919, Congress passed the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, giving women the right to vote.

That day in Catawba County, then 10-year-old Lois Mundy remembers her dad coming in to tell her mom the good news.

Ninety-four years and 16 presidents later, Mundy has never missed a chance to vote.
