Nashville duo to play at Catawba home

A home in Catawba will be invaded on Sunday by a recently married, musical duo from Nashville.

Blake Gray and Brian Nutter are kicking off their year with a special kind of tour to promote their duet group, unBRAKEable. The Home Invasion Tour covers 103 cities in four months, trading out the typical venues for intimate concerts inside people’s homes.

MSC finalist for innovation challenge

In the past two years, the Manufacturing Solutions Center (MSC) in Conover has helped 810 entrepreneurs develop their dream into a reality, according to Director Dan St. Louis.

This fact, along with other notes of accomplishments in innovation, was highlighted in a video St. Louis and his team submitted to the N.C. State Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) Spaces for Innovation Challenge.

Local veteran remembered

James Philo Isenhower, who died Friday evening, was truly a citizen of Newton-Conover, Catawba County, North Carolina, United States of America. The businessman-realtor personified the bonds that bind the twin cities community; he resided in Conover only blocks from the family home where he grew up and he spent each business day in Newton at his office and lunching in local eateries.

Newton man convicted in Burke Co. Court

Dustin Wayne Sanders, 26, of Newton, pleaded guilty to robbery with a dangerous weapon in Burke County Superior Court Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Sanders was given an active sentence of four to six years by the Honorable Robert C. Ervin, Superior Court Judge from Morganton.
