CVCC to name new school mascot

Catawba Valley Community College announced the “Our School, Our Brand” campaign this week in which a new mascot will be selected to represent CVCC.

The new brand at CVCC looks to embody all of the past and future success of CVCC and the Catawba Valley area through the naming of a new mascot.

Chair Katherine Barnes files for County Commission

Katherine “Kitty” Barnes announced Wednesday that she will seek another term as a Catawba County Commissioner.

In her 28 years of public service, Barnes has been a member of both the Catawba County Board of Commissioners and Board of Education. She has been a strong advocate for Catawba County citizens at the regional, state and federal levels of government.

Girl Scouts send soldiers sweet treats

For a soldier far from home, a simple letter can be an impactful thing. Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont, which includes troops from western NC to the piedmont region, are working to send troops even more.

Operation Sweet Treat is a council-wide service project partnered with NCPacks4Patriots to send Girl Scout Cookies to military servicemen and women.
