Monday was a busy day at the Catawba County Board of Elections office with seven candidates filing for offices.
Of those seven names who filed, all represent the Republican party.
Three of the seven who filed on Monday were a trio of women running for Clerk of Superior Court.
After 34 years in office, Sen. Austin Allran announced Monday that he will not seek re-election in 2014.
Allran, who represents both Catawba and Alexander counties, is the senior member of the State Senate and ranks number-one in seniority among Republicans in both houses of the General Assembly.
